Travel Advice & Vaccinations

If you are a patient at Cheriton Bishop & Teign Valley Practice and require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel, you will need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements. This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.

There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below:

Please allow plenty of time

Please allow plenty of time for your vaccinations. Some need to be given 6 months in advance of travel, for example Hepatitis B.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible, at least six weeks before you travel, as a second appointment will often be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. Your second appointment needs to be at least two weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

You will receive free Hepatitis A and typhoid vaccines along with any other routinely given vaccines that are given in the UK. All others will be chargeable and can be obtained in the Travel Clinic in Exeter: 01392 430590. For example: rabies, Japanese encephalalitis, cholera etc.

You will be advised at the first consultation of any costs involved. The vaccines you require will be ordered for you on receipt of your payment.

We are not a Yellow Fever clinic - if needed, this may be obtained from the travel clinic as above. You will need to telephone to make an appointment. The approximate cost of the vaccination is £55 and lasts for 10 years.
